496. Chocolate Tiramisu Cake

1
It was merely a question of time. Having the perfect easy tiramisu recipe on hand, the natural following step would be to create a show-stopper tiramisu cake… with shocking ease.To create this masterpiece, you simply assemble it together.
Sure you can go all out and make your own cake layers, but even that is not too hard.
Three layers of chocolate-drenched cake layers are separated by a dense super-creamy tiramisu cheese spread, all surrounded by biscuit chocolate flutes and topped with grated or flaked chocolate.
By all means feel free to add coffee to the drench mix, that would be ideal. I made this for a gathering that included coffee haters (shock, horror), so I excluded it.
The only real work here is holding a handmixer to whip up the cheese layer.

Ingredients:

25 pk galaxy flutes (2 fingers in each pk)
1 loaf vanilla or marble cake

4 Tbsp cocoa powder
2 pk (250g each) cream cheese
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
2/3 cup sugar
grated chocolate or chocolate shards, to decorate

Method:
In a medium bowl, mix cocoa powder with 1/2 cup boiling water until dissolved.
Add 1 cup cold water; set aside.
With an electric mixer, beat cream cheese with heavy cream and sugar until light and fluffy.
Cover the bottom of a paper doily-lined 8 inch spring-form pan with thinly sliced (0.5 cm thick) vanilla or marble cake.
Working carefully, stand the galaxy flutes (or kitkat or twix fingers) upright all around the sides of the pan.
Brush the cake with the cocoa mixture.
Spread a third of the cream cheese mixture over the drenched cake.
Repeat the process with two more layers of cake and ending with the final third of the cream cheese.
Refrigerate overnight.

Just before serving, open the spring form and transfer the cake to a stand.

Crumble some Flake chocolate or grate some regular chocolate over the face of the cake.
